Who We Are

The purpose of the Central Region Regional Geospatial Information Office is to partner with stakeholders to enable the discovery of our natural world and turn information into knowledge. By combining into one office the oversight of information technology, information management and information services, the RGIO better enables USGS science by ensuring that anyone can find, get and use information in meaningful ways, advocating the effective stewardship of information assets, and also fosters meaningful partnerships.

The vision of the GIO is to provide an efficient and effective integrated information environment that supports science and decision-making by September 30, 2007.

    • HQ Policy implementation within the Region
      • Technical Certification and Accreditation
      • Active Directory
      • IT Investment Review Boards
    • Supporting the delivery of science
      • Science Thrusts - Science Project Support
      • NSDI Liaisons - Cultivate State, Local, Federal relationships and develop Partnerships
      • Publishing Network
  • Matrixed To Associate Director for Geospatial Information
